Ironing...

So, for many years I have ironed on Sunday nights. Just the way I am. Trying to simplify my life by doing all my ironing for the week on Sunday nights. Usually it is the same thing every week...4 black pants - and one brown. I vowed this year to only wear black pants...it seemed that whenever I purchased any other colors I wore them once...and then they just hung in my closet. Black...the only color I wear over and over. That being said...tonight is Sunday night and I don't have to work tomorrow...so no more ironing of the black pants! Oh my God!!

So, I have spent the last few hours washing my summer clothes (wishful thinking I know). And I am ironing summer clothes tonight...no black pants! However; as I am ironing I am wondering how many khaki shorts a person can have? I know at one point I had 17 pair of khaki pants...go figure. I don't know what it is about khaki pants (mostly from the Gap) but every time you wash them the SHRINK! Seriously! It seems that is the case with the khaki shorts as well! I know I have gained a couple of pounds since last year...but honestly they should still fit!!

How many pair of khaki shorts should a person own? I have at least 10...and we don't normally get 10 days above 70 here in Washington. Oh well, I will wear them in the rain as well...because my khaki pants no longer fit! And I won't be ironing anymore black pants...until I get a job!

April 19...the hardest day I have every worked!

Oh my gosh! I thought this unemployment was going to be easy...in the past I have never been an early riser. Not now! I seem to be waking up a little after 6:00 a.m. each day...and I do not have to get up! Before I would have hit the snooze at least 4 times before dragging myself out of bed...Maybe this being unemployed is working for me...no stress at this point.

When I asked my son to buy me some gasoline for the lawnmower (no rain today) he just about fell over...usually he mows the lawn...after about 10 days of dailing pleading on my part. His choice was to either get me the gasoline or mow the lawn. I got the gas...

My lawn was at least 10 inches long today when I started...that is long compared to my dogs legs which are about 3 inches long! The grass tickles there bellies...they are happy now. And lots of new smells in the newly cut lawn.

For those of you that know me...are probably shocked by the fact that I even mowed the lawn. There isn't anything I dislike than mowing lawns...I would honestly prefer to clean toilets...or even Logan's room. Nothing is worse than getting my hands dirty!

Today the back lawn...tomorrow the front lawn (baring rain)...who knows, maybe I will learn to like yardwork?

My goal is to do some form of exercise every day I am off work...I have successfully walked every day...and am claiming mowing the lawn as my daily excersise!

Wednesday, April 15th...a job lost

I had worked at Russell Investments since 1980. I was 23 when I was hired...it has been a long road. I have had a son, 2 sabaticals and numberous trips to see the world. I have no regrets! About anything...I believe in living life to the fullest...although I tend to do a lot less socially these days. I hope this is one thing I can change and improve on while I am off of work.

I firmly believe that God did not put us on this earth to work 5 days a week with 2 days off. It seemed that all of my weekends involved trying to play catch-up to everything that happened during the week. I was never caught up...ever.

I am going to take this time to enjoy my life...and for once in my life get caught up! And to be as happy as I can be. I am looking at this as an opportunity to do what I am passionate about...although not sure exactly what that is yet...it will be a learning experience!
